Take my blood, blood pressure, weight, oxygen intake.
The steriods still made me red, my face red and my chest red, but they let me start the chemo process. They gave me more steriods ( these are for water retention) and nausea medicine and then told us to wait for 30 mins for the meds to take so we had lunch at the Bistro and watched them building onto the Huntsman Cancer institute.
The nurses were great and kind and an older man getting chemo at the same time came and told me about Jesus! I got a wig and some new hats. And the Happy chemo lady came by and said happy chemo and gave us free stuff. We barely finished the Blind Side in the 3 hours of chemo. Loved the blind side.
I feel fine, pretty normal. It wasn't scary, they just put an IV in my arm and it dripped for an hour and then they gave me another chemical for an hour. Then our movie wasn't even over with and we sat and finished it.
So when a Dr. tells you, you have to have chemo and you start crying uncontrollaby. Maybe you can think again. So far, not that horrible. With taxatere my hair should fall out in 2 weeks. So I'm getting it cut on Thursday.

ReplyDeleteKathy, thanks for keeping us informed. What an inspiration you are to all of us.
ReplyDeleteWow Kathy!! You still are amamzing even with a chemo drip! I am so glad that you did well with your first treatment! Good luck this week- I hope you love your haircut! I know that this will be the only time you will ever see your scalp- your hair grows like a weed, and you have so much.so the wig wont be used for long after the chemo stops. How are the hats you bought? One of my patients likes the ones that have hair attached- she says they aren't as hot as a full wig... Good luck ya cute lil' trooper!!!

ReplyDeleteWith or without hair you still rock! So glad to read that you are embracing the idea of "cancer being just a word not a sentence". Love ya and am proud of you.
